How to Prepare Yourself for a Plastic Operation and How It Will Be Performed?

However plastic operations are still considered as a waste of money and a taboo subject, more and more women and men do it to improve their look. The fear comes usually from ignorance and myths. I will try to provide you with the basic knowledge about one common plastic surgery which is breast enhancement. Have you ever thought how many women feel discomfort with their breasts? They may feel that their breast size is too small or they are not satisfied with the balance of the breast size? Sometimes they feel the need to correct a reduction in breast volume after pregnancy. They would like to change something but they know nothing about any possibilities.
Breast Augmentation, technically known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure to enhance the size and shape of a woman’s breast. Breast augmentation can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence, but it won't necessarily change your looks to match your ideal, or cause other people to treat you differently. Before you decide to have surgery, think carefully about your expectations and discuss them with your surgeon.
The best candidates for breast augmentation are women who are looking for improvement, not perfection, in the way they look. If you're physically healthy and realistic in your expectations, you may be a good candidate.
In your initial consultation, your surgeon should put forward what the types of implant and the surgical techniques are. There are several types of breast implants: silicone and saline- this is the basic division. The difference is also in shape: we distinguish 2 main types of implants: round and anatomical. There are 3 types of each, tall, medium and low profile. Let focus on the silicone ones (because these are allowed to be used in Poland). The implant itself is a silicone shell filled with silicone gel- of several types of cohesion. The decision which to chose is rather difficult because you cannot be provided with exact picture of how your breast will look after operation with a particular shape of implant. That is why you should find a surgeon that you can trust and follow his decision as far as the shape and size are concerned. Of course you should tell your surgeon what your expectations are before he/she makes the final decision. Doctor should be equally frank with you, describing your alternatives and the risks and limitations of each. He or she should also chose the best surgical technique for you depending on the condition of your breast and skin tone. When your breasts are sagging, your doctor may also recommend a breast lift.
Breast augmentation is relatively straightforward. But as with any operation, there are risks associated with surgery and specific complications associated with this procedure.
The most common problem, capsular contracture, occurs if the scar or capsule around the implant begins to tighten. This squeezing of the soft implant can cause the breast to feel hard. Capsular contracture can be treated in several ways, and sometimes requires either removal or "scoring" of the scar tissue, or perhaps removal or replacement of the implant. There is no evidence that breast implants will affect fertility, pregnancy, or your ability to nurse.
As with any surgical procedure, excessive bleeding following the operation may cause some swelling and pain. If excessive bleeding continues, another operation may be needed to control the bleeding and remove the accumulated blood. Some women report that their nipples become oversensitive, under sensitive, or even numb. You may also notice small patches of numbness near your incisions. These symptoms usually disappear within time, but may be permanent in some patients. While the majority of women do not experience these complications, you should discuss each of them with your physician to make sure you understand the risks and consequences of breast augmentation.
When you know the basic information about the operation itself and the consequences that it carries, you can be provided you with list of information on how to get prepared for the surgical procedure:
1. Your surgeon will give you instructions to prepare for surgery, including guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, and taking or avoiding certain vitamins and medications.
1. Basically you will not be allowed to eat or drink for 7 hours before the operation. No smoking is accepted or even chewing gum.
2. While making preparations, be sure to arrange for someone to drive you home after your surgery and to help you out for a few days, if needed.
3. You should know, that breast augmentation is performed with a general anesthesia, so you'll sleep through the entire operation.

You may ask a question how is it like to be after the operation? You are likely to feel tired and sore for a few days following your surgery, but you will be up and around in 24 to 48 hours. Most of your discomfort can be controlled by medication prescribed by your doctor.
You will be given a surgical bra. You should wear it as directed by your surgeon.
Your stitches will come out in a week to 10 days, but the swelling in your breasts may take three to five weeks to disappear. You should be able to return to work within a few days, depending on the level of activity required for your job.
