It was Sunday 18 November when I went with my boyfriend to the cinema. We went to Plaza. The film started at 17:45 pm and it was called Signs.

The action was set on a big corn farm near Philadelphia. Graham Hess (played by Mel Gibson) was a farmer and ex-vicar. He was a calm man living with younger brother Merlin (played by Jaquin Phoenix) and two children-little girl Bo ( played by Abigail Breslin) and her brother Morgan(played by Rory Culkin). Disheartened man lived with any problems connected with children or a farm. He tried to be a good father and replace children they mother who died in car accident few months ago. Everythink looked fine. But not for long.

One day when Graham went out from his house, he heard noises from the corn fields. He went into the corn and discovered that somebody has made rings and lines bending corn to the ground creating strange signs. Thet was very strange and scary for man and his family.

After that everything went faster. First in a village neighbouring Graham’s farm dogs were puted downbecause of their strange agressive behaviour. Second on TV were only programmes about aliens and signs in corn all over the world. Also on the radio they could hear only updates about expected aliens’ invasion. Panic started.

The film was directed by Night Shyamalan: director of Sixth Sense with Bruce Willis. And it’s sad but in comparison with Bruce Willis from Sixth Sense, Mel Gibson from Signs is much worse than Willis from prior Shyamalan film. Gibson didn’t show us his talent and now I think he plays well only in films about war and killing people. In the other hand role played by Jaquin Phoenix (Merlin-Graham’s brother) was much better. Now I will remember Phoenix not only as the Cesar Commodus from Gladiator but as the brother of Graham Hess too.

In my opinion the film was quite thrilling, you will be really scare watching it. I think that money spended on tickets was not wasted. I like this film very much.
