The mass media refers to the people and organizations that provide news and informations for the public. Until recetly these were mainly newspapers, so the press, televion and radio. Today computers play a very big part. The internet is very important nowadays.

The computer system allows millions of people around the world to receive and exchange information about almost anything. Ordinary post has been taken over by e-mail, which stands for electronic mail to each other quickly and cheaply. In the internet we can find answer on almost every question we ask. It is also some kind of entertainment. We can test our knowledge, we can learn new language, or just read about the situation in the world. In the internet it depends on us what we will read.

A diffrent situation it is when we are watching television. For people, who do not have the computer with acces on internet television is the major source form which people get the news. Nowadays no one can imagine life without this useful invention.

And television is a very powerful force. First of all it is the most important source of information about what is happening in every corner of the world. It keep us informed about wars, significant political or cultural events, catastrophes, accidents and crimes.

Moreover, television provide entertainment od every kind. Thanks to it, we can listen the music, which we like. We can watch interesting movies of any kind, comedies, cartoons, shows.

Tv not only adds colour to our life, has enormous educational possibilities. When we are watching some nature films or others, our knowledge about the world increase.

From economic point of view television isn’t expensive – you only have to buy TV set and monthly (or annually) pay bill for cabel or satellite television. Than you can watch television as long as you want. So it is comfortable and cheap. Whenever we are tired or bored, we can always turn on the set and find our favourite programme and relax watching it.

We have also a radio, well it is like in TV, we can change the radiostation. But the diffrence is that in TV we usually watch movies, and on the radio we listen music, and news. But some people believe only in that what they can see, so the radio doesn’t satisfy them.

Apart from television , the press is the most important source of informations nowadays. A lot of people read newspapers every day, or just on weekands, when they have enough time. Many readers claim that they prefer papers to television for the simple reason that they have more time to concentrate on the news.

Almost everyone wants to be well informed about what is happening in the world. That is why many agencies have their foreign correspondents in almost all parts of the world.

In short the media should always be professional, responsible, careful and ethical, but it is often confronted by the conflict between the right to know and the right to privacy and fair treatment. A conflict which sometimes cannot be easily resolved.

To sum up media are things, where we can find some information, we can also entertainment, and we can learn something new. It depends on us, what we will choose.
