Should we be afraid of death?

People often personify death. They imagine death as a women with cold, lifeless eyes, who is wearing long, white dress. Maybe this description is a reason that some people are afraid of death. People are scared. In the other hand they have hope: they believe they will live eternally, that second live will be better. Death comes to all of us but, should we be afraid of it?

Some people think that death is destructive force, that it finishes everything. They find it terrible and feel powerless against it. People think a lot of death when they lose somebody related to them. It is very harmful situation, we start to be afraid of death. On the other hand it encourages people to think about sense of their live. They think: “I must do everything the best I can, because I haven’t a lot of time- I will die , only memories will survive. So I must be bosom friend and good man”

Some people are not afraid of death. They say that death has no power over us, because it is just a slave to fate chance and desperate men. They denial death because of selfish reason: they think they are unique, different, so death doesn’t concern them. They think: how could all these thoughts and emotions, all that they were, all that they had been or would be, simply disappear?

Two aphorisms written by Leo Tolstoy may sum up this essay: “Death doesn’t concern us: when we are alive- there is no death. When death is here: we are not here anymore” and “Death destroy a men, but the idea of death saves him”
