The first day of college I woke up, no, I was woken up by my mom at 6 o’clock in the morning. I don’t have a driving license yet, so I either can take a bus or my Mom can drive me to school on her way to work. I didn’t even eat breakfast; I took my tea with me to the car.
“Mom, I need my driving license!” I said.

“Anna, you know I am very busy now, and don’t have time for your license,” she replied.
“I don’t care! I NEED a license! I can’t use a bus all the time! What about winter?”
“You’ll manage,” she said calmly.

My reasons are selfish. I know it is hard for us, but it seems like I am the only one that I am the only one that really experiences that “hardness.” Well, we (my Mom, sister Olga and I) came from Poland just last year. We are trying to make a living here in the United States. We moved here because we have greater opportunities than we had in Poland. This way I went to senior class in Riverhead High School and graduated there.

This is my third school in last three years. That is why I was so nervous and shy the first day of college. I got to my chemistry class, and waited there for my fellow students and the teacher of course. I like my professor because she is really nuts about chemistry. Like a mad scientist, the next Dr. Jekyll. But my history class, oh my God! I hate it (or I will hate it) because of my teacher! She reminds me of my professor from Poland. She was so enthusiastic about the students and the subject, although she was not a good teacher. I never understood what she was talking about, along with other students. So my present history teacher will take all of the pleasure of studying history, probably. I just hope to pass this class.
