Ulubiony okres

My favourite historical period is XXth century. Why. I?ll try to tell you why I like it.
XXth century is often called ?Age of Wars?. But, except from disasters like World Wars, it?s also a time of great Polish history moments. At the beginning, we have got our independence back. We were eventually free, after 123 years of occupation. Unfortunately, not for long. Just after 20 years, German occupation started. After II World War we were taken under influence of Soviet Union. After that it was year 1989 and first democratic election after years. After that, we?re living in country, which we?ve always dreamed of. This century was also time when new countries were made and democratizing others.
The next reason why I like it is technology progress. New inventions in communication like plane and spaceship made easier to travel. New ways of amusement, like TV or Videocassette recorder appeared. A lot of scientific discoveries took place in XXth century ? for example Einstein?s theory of relativity, new vaccination against tuberculosis, nuclear power, theory of Big Bang, laser, satellites, transplantology, cloning. But, in my opinion, the most important invention was computer and Internet. Now almost every item has a little processor inside. And Internet helps to communicate people from the other side of Earth. It also helps in popularizing knowledge.
XXth century is the time when new subcultures and music species began. Times before II World War were times, when jazz began. 50s was the time of Elvis Presley and rock?n?roll. 60s ? the time of Woodstock, hippies, The Beatles and sexual revolution. Punk rock, hard rock and disco were the most popular in 70s. Rap and electronic music began to break into the mainstream in 80s. Techno became hugely popular in 90s
XXth century was, I think, the most interesting and the most ?intensive? century ever. That?s why I like it.
