One of my favourite films – „Man on fire” is directed by Tony Scott. The type of such film is mixed – it contains action, drama, thrill and crime. It’s set in Mexico City, where a former assassin swears vengeance on those who commited an unspeakable act against the family he was hired to protect.
The film tells the story of a rich family, a little girl named Pita and her bodyguard – Creasy. When he starts protecting Pita, he starts also a nwe life without violence and bad thoughts. They like each other and become happy. One day everything changes. Pita is kidnapped and Creasy nearly dies of injuries in hospital. Then, in spite of pain and wounds, the bodyguard promises to find the girl. Later he gets to know that Pita is dead. Creasy can’t stand it and he kills everyone who earned money on Pita’s kidnapping. Eventually, Pita turns out to be alive, but Creasy dies.
In my opinion the film is just perfect, the acting by both Denzel Washington (Creasy) and Dakota Fanning (Pita) are fabulous, and the plot is gripping. Actually „fabulous” is a small word to use for such tallented actors. The film is based on current facts and some characters are not fictional. What’s more, the special effects are really spectacular.
To sum up, the „Man on fire”, the film about promise to protect and a vow to avenge is really worth watching, especially when at the end of the film you like having a weird and inexplicable feeling which only a good film can give. I highly reccomend this excellent movie. Simply – just son’t miss it !
