01. Qualities of a good friend – discuss.
What kind of person would I be, if I didn’t have my friends? Those people play very important role in my life, and I consider myself as lucky to have them, to spend time with
them. But not every person I can call my friend. Why? I have my expectations and I choose only those who seem to be worth my friendship.

But I hadn’t always been like that. I have been learning, since I was a child whom I can trust.

There are several different characteristics:

First one is a person with sense of humor. In the beginning he or she may seem as a great companion - never being sad, always looking at the bright side of life. But on the other hand, when you are feeling blue, will that person understand you? Will he or she share your worries? More likely she’ll say to not waste such a beautiful day on a bad mood, or to keep smiling, etc. Is that what you want to hear on a moment like that? I would rather spend time with someone who gives me a hug and is willing to listen to me.

Second type is an intelligent person. That is a very good companion if you like to talk a lot. Most likely he or she likes it as well. Furthermore it is probably a good way for you to learn something new. And there will be someone to explain you many complicated issues. But do you really need a friend who is close to get a Nobel Prize? Would that kind of person fully understand your needs?

The final type of personality is a reliable person. At the beginning is very often shy, but when the time goes bye, he or she opens herself and shows the great nature. That person has ability to listen and to give wise advises, and what is the most important is trustworthy. You can tell him or her everything, and then not thing if all community knows what is going on with you.

After introducing various types of people personality the answer is clear. Reliability is what we want to find in others. But even more important is to try finding it in us.

Next question is: what kind of friend I am?

02. All adults should be allowed to buy guns.
The situation, when people have a gun illegally is also an important cause of crime. They can often buy weapon on „black market”. If criminals have guns, they feel safe and can frighten or use them against innocent people.

03. Recommend a place for summer or winter holidays.
Holiday in a hot country is lust after for many people in a cold country. Everyone want to lie in a big sun.

Being in Ibiza, have many positive sights. First of all, there are always many people. You can strike up a friendship with some people. You can have a nice time with them. Nice time mean playing a football, volleyball or something else and dance, dance, dance...Also, there is a lot of sun, beaches and coconuts. There are many discos so there are always hot atmosphere. Many man go there because there are many hot girls. For people who like nature there is a volcano.

However, being in Ibiza have also negative sights. Firstly, for many people it is for away. Many people doesn’t have enough money to go there. Many people scared fly by the plane and scared volcano. Volcano can eruption. You can have a sunstroke or some sick. There are a lot of spiders so many girls don’t like go there. Sometime there is too little space.

I think holiday in a hot country is funny. It is a good way to have a nice time.

04. The best way of spending holidays.
Holiday is the most perfect time of the year. Not going to school for more than two months itself makes them such great. But there is still a few things that can make holiday even greater.

One of the most important things about summer is the weather. It should be hot, the sun shoud shine all the time, so that the people could sunbathe, swam in the see or lake and take long walks in the evening… Rain and cold can ruin this beautiful time!

On the other hand, if you have a good company, even terrible weather would not be so bad. The people you take on your trip shoud be the ones, you would be having great time with, no matter what other circumstances are like.

The place you are staing at can also improve your vacation. For me the best locality for summer is France, at the Mediterranean Sea. The shores are so pure there, the sand on the beach is so delicate and the French men are so handsome… :)

The last thing I would need to have the best time of my life is money. Lots of money! ;) There is nothing to do without them no matter where you are. With non-limited budget you can do what you like, see what you want and eat or drink as many regional dishes and drinks as you wish. Honestly, no matter what they say, money is important!

This four things would make my holiday perfect. But to tell you the truth, summer is the ideal time of the year itself just because it is totally free from school! :)

05. Good and bad sides of going to school – discuss.
Expression “necessary evil” is commonly understood as something unpleasant, harmful and sth that we would willingly get rid of . But is it felicitous word if it goes on duty of atteding school?? Is it so bad to go there? Does it require so much sacrifice and effort to manage to survive this few hours in the torture chamber? Is it worth? And does it give us any profits???

Lots of pupils would give anything to avoid this sad obligation, but almost the same numer realize that without school our life would be incomplite and devoided of many important experiences.

Since the first years of school we learn how to live, how to behave in embarrasing and hopeless situations, how to take control under the stress and overcome fears... As 7-8- year old children we face up to simple problems such as undone homework or friend “stealing” our toys, but step by step we grow up to defeat more and more difficult obstacles.

School is the place where we make our first friendships, fall in love, learn how to distinguish right and wrong and make right decisions. Lessons well guided by pupil-friendly teachers can easily help us to develop our interests, talents and encourage even less capable student to deepen his knowlage. Attending classes we became open-minded, stately citizens not just a man in the street. Cooperating with peers arouses competativeness, self-confidence and team spirit which are useful skills in future, adult life.

On the other hand sometimes school life is really cruel.

It’s 6. o’clock in the morning when the alarm clock goes off and the terrible sounds forces you to crawl out of warm bed and back to hard reality. It’s not that bad when it’s spring and it’s bright outside the window and the birds are singing and the sun is shining but when you wake up in the middle of winter and despite the fact that it’s morning it’s still dark out there you don’t have even the smallest will to start day, and then, lot of us cry “SCHOOL? NOT AGAIN! WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS?”

What’s more this “evil” is especially burdensome when you want to go out in the afternoon but you can’t cause you have got full of homework to do. Also ununderstanding teachers are problematic...they are convinced that subject they teach is the most interesting and most important of all and pupils got nothing better to do but study and study it. Fortunately these are rare cases.

As far as I’m concerned opinion that “school is a necessary evil” is partly right. I completly agree that it’s necessary , but doubt that it’ an evil, cause what would the world look like without institutions broadening our minds?? Would future generations be withdrawing intellectually??

06. All women are born to be mothers. Do you agree?
Most people want their wives to stay at home and take care of children. This solution could be one of the ways to happiness in men's life. However women in XXI century prefere education, studies, work and earning money than sitting at home. Of course there are many advantages to stay women at home.

07. What should an ideal teacher be like? Discuss.
My primary school history teacher repeatedly told his classes that the primary purpose of a teacher was "to teach young people to think." I was deeply impressed by this simple statement. Years later, I can still vividly remember Mrs. Pająk's commitment to engage students in her history lessons to stimulate their thinking skills. We had highly interactive discussions that forced us to ponder over more information than the textbook actually gave us. That year in Mrs. Pająk's class, I learned much more than just Polish history from her.

Now I am firmly convinced that an ideal teacher firstly ought to teach his students to think for themselves. Learning is not just about acquiring study techniques or mastering rote memorization skills, but rather about developing an understanding and appreciation for the subject material being studied and deriving practical applications. I believe that receiving an education is not just for aesthetic purposes; learning is important for the sake of understanding the world in which we live so that we will know how to relate to, cope with and succeed in it.

Secondly, through the good instructor's teaching it must be apparent that he has a love for the subject he teaches. He encourages students to develop an interest and love for this subject as well. In order to maintain his students' interest in the subject material, he creates lesson plans that are engaging, interesting and highly interactive. In my view the easiest way to perform it, is to integrate textbook learning with lessons in laboratory or museum. Such lessons should be built on their prior knowledge and the teacher must ask questions that would cause his students to think deeper about the problem.

The good teacher has not only real knowledge, which he can absorbingly pass, but he is also a kindly man, interested in youth's problems. He is responsible for his conduct and deferential to the students through his cultivated behaviour. He detects the uniqueness of each pupil, skilfully finds what is the most valuable in him, discovers good inclinations, talents and takes care of their growth.

All in all I believe that an ideal teacher helps his students reach their full potential in learning by teaching them to think. Students should be challenged by thought-provoking questions and encouraged to question and discuss ideas in order to develop a fuller understanding of the subject material. A student's attitude toward learning is influenced by the family and social background that he or she comes from. A good teacher will try to understand these backgrounds and, with them in mind, develop approaches to teaching that aim to eliminate negative attitudes and enhance their desire to learn. Ideal teachers should be firm, yet caring; flexible, yet steadfast in pursuing their ultimate goals; patient, yet persevering; strong in character and integrity, and demand excellence both from themselves and their students.

I will always remember Mrs. Pająk: a teacher whose unswerving commitment to teach young people and love for teaching has left a legacy of students whose capacity to think flourished and enjoyment of learning increased because of the deep impressions left by a dedicated educator.

09. Your image of an ideal school.
In my opinion an ideal school is a place friendly for students and teachers. Teachers are nice for pupils and inverse. Here every peoples are indulgent for self. In one word every are nice to every. Classes count up to twenty persons – about ten boys and ten girls. In ideal school can’t out of place for invalids. I think so in every class should be at least two invalids, and classrooms will be prepared for those peoples. Lessons go on in clean, nice classrooms. Every pupils has stable workplace, where they can put books, notebooks and the rest. On all desks is computer. Computers are connected to local area network and internet. It enable tracing information on many, many subjects. Even if student is absent he can listen to lesson by Internet. Except traditional items teach here sociology, psychology, ethics, and for willing advanced informatics, however all pupils must learn duty basic of informatics because it is necessary to life. Knowledge will be test to effect. In ideal school also care for pupil’s health and organize many, many sport games. In all classrooms stand table with fruit and juices. In ideal school should be at least one big gymnastic hall, swimming pool, universal stadium for football, baseball and light athletic. In school of my dreams are three month summer vacation and two month winter ferries. Enrich businessmens invests in school, country give money. For that reason students can travel on trips to all countries. When student passed the last exam, he will be prepared to life in society.
10. What are your plans for the future?
I often think about my future. I am curious how would it look like.
At present I go to secondary school and I am in the fourth form. So it is obvious that I would like to pass the examination for the secondary – school certificate. I also work. My job is sensible and enjoyable but unfortunately it isn’t good paid job. I hope that I will earn little more if I pass the examination. Please don’t think that it is so important for me. Now the most important thing is my education. If I graduate school I will take the entrance examination to high school. But I’m not sure yet what I will study. I was thinking about marketing and management – this is something that interests me and it would be helpful at my work. I would like to speak English perfectly. At my work it is very important to have a good command of this language. Besides it has always been my dream.

I don’t know where I will live in the future. I would like to have a flat in Warsaw on my own. Now it is only a dream but maybe some day. I have also some plans about my family. I supposed that one day I will get married and have children. However, these are further plans. Now I am trying to concentrate on my education and professional career. I haven’t forgotten about good fun. In my opinion life without pleasures isn’t happy.

I was thinking about traveling. I have often dreamed of taking a trip round the world. I have already been to many places. For example I was in France and England. I would like to visit Asia, South America and Australia. I haven’t been there yet.

This is all about my plans for the future.

ver.2 In the future
In the Future I want to be a movie star. I would like to be beautiful and famous, because that’s how it usually is with movie stars. I would met many fantastic and interesting people, actors, actresses and filmmakers. I would spend much time on private parties, banquets. I would like to play in comedies, because I like making people smile. I’m a woman, so I like doing shopping, and then I would have more money and more opportunities to buy more things. I’m fascinated with fame and I’m wondering what it will be like, when people start to recognise me. It would be nice to have a lot of fans allover the world, to get e-mails and letters from them.

One disadvantage of being a movie star is that I wouldn’t have time for my family and friends. Sometimes the fame can be very hard, because you can’t keep your privacy away from mass-media. And you can’t be sure that you will get dreamed role.

Anyway I have always wanted to be an actress and I can sea more advantages then disadvantages.

11. The most important event in your life.
It was a warm and starry night. I was making some tea for us as usual. We were alone in a big house with no TV, no telephone and no electricity. I heard only fireplace but suddenly Molly said: “Adam, I think you should stop making it and come here for a while!” I was afraid. I thought nothing could disturb our calm and silence that evening. We decided to go there just for taking a break and to spend a week of that year’s holidays together.

I prepared for them for a long time. In spring Molly said, that we should spend some time together, without tourists and beaches full of people. She kept me in uncertainty till the week before leaving. I knew only that I had to take some clothes and some food. I should tell my parents that we were leaving for a week. I trusted her; she knew what to do. I packed everything: clothes , food, pans, mugs and a good mood of course. That was the most important thing as it came out later.

After all we had some days just for us. We didn’t need anything – just our presence. Something completely unexpected happened each day. And completely unexpected was also THAT day. I felt something inside in the morning but I just got up and made breakfast. After that we went for a walk. Our house had a marvellous view for a lake and a gorgeous garden. It was so wonderful that we were talking mostly without words. We usually drank tea in the evenings, so I made some. And on that moment something incredible happened...

I took our mugs to the living - room. I couldn’t notice Molly by the fireplace. One moment later I saw her. She had a big bouquet of roses in her hands and she kneeled in front of me. I remember only two things: she had a ring and she asked: “Will you marry me, Adam?” I didn’t have to think twice about that. I knew the answer a long time ago. But I was a little bit surprised, but nicely surprised. I said: “Yes!” and she kissed me. It was a long and passionate kiss...

Next day we came back home and we were planning our Wedding.
I felt happy before leaving because of spending some days only with Molly. We were happy together, it was wonderful, but marriage at once? Since that moment my life has made sense. I’m in love and nothing could stop that feeling. I will be happy with Molly till the end... We got involved in our love with all senses...

13. What do you prefer – books or television. Why?
Watching television has advantages and disadvantages. Television is a very popular form of entertainment. It’s a good source of information, it brings us a lot of information about events in the world. It broadens our knowledge and gives many possibilities for example: documentary or nature films. Watching television is cheap and comfortable. It can improve foreign languages. Television is like a drug, everybody can become addicted to it. It draws us away from active spending of our time, for example: going to the cinema, the theatre or reading good books. The most popular are serials, TV shows, films and the news. Advertisements which we can see, give us much information about products. Often they are just rubbish. I think, that watching TV has as many pluses as minuses. I like spending my time in front of my television set.

14. Good and bad effects of watching TV.
From my point of view , television exemplifies unlimited source of various news and knowledge showing aspects of our lives .

As many people know , we can divide watching TV to situations when it is useful and helpful for us and unfortunately harmful . I will start from good points.I can only say , that I usually derive beficial information from this kind of mass media . Some programmes really deserve our attention . The good point of TV is constant expansion ot possibilites of watching TV . Within a space of year digital TV has appeared . It brought more interactive functions , so we are capable of interefering in action (for instance , maybe in a future we will be able to move a camera in the movie), doesn’t it sound good ? Now you do not have to be a passive viewer – at last . Of course , only in a specific dimension , now . It is clear that we have to pay for these extra options , but it should not be a hindrance. We ought not to forget that TV has an extraordinary level . For example : If you dream of journey around the world to see many countries with a lot of attractions , I suggest taking your remote control and press an appropriate button . After this you move into exotic beauty . You can watch animals and the greatest monuments , let’s see ( National Geographic Channel ? ) . It will take you wherever you want to go . But if you have enough money , throw away your TV-SET , and take a plane tovisit these places .

I do not want to write it (As far as I am concerned TV is my ally) , but I have to enumerate bad points of TV . It is really necessary , even though a few people worry about it . So what do we have here ... ?

To begin with , we should mention problems caused by unsuitable programmes especially for children (also X-rated , huh , huh) . I think that parents have to supervise children’s TV watching , because when they grow up , they are incredibly susceptible to everything wich surrounds them . As a result of that , they can get into addiction (by the way , do you remember Robert Palmer’s song “ You are addicted to Love “ ? , I am sure it a good addiction) . Instead of having eyes glued to the TV screen , they should play in the open air .

In my summary I would like to add , that nowadays TV is indispensable . I foresee that by the year 2010 will have been one way nearby (Mobile Internet – WAP or some stuff form UMTS) to communicate with people , so it is awesome , isn’t it !?

15. A car or a bicycle? The best means of transport for young people.
Cycling as a means of transport. This is a very debatable subject. What reasons can make us change car for a bicycle? Are there any? Today reasons for riding a bike have changed.

There are many advantages of riding a bike. To begin with, cycling is a inexpensive form of transport. You do no have to spend money on things such as petrol or costly repairs. Moreover, cycling helps you stay fit. It’s a good form of exercise, particulary for the legs, heart and lungs. Finally, cycling is an environmentally-firiendly way to travel because it doesn’t create air polution.

However, riding a bike has also its disadvantages. Cities are a mine of fumes, which are very bad for our health. Riding a bike is such conditions can be dangerous. What is more, cycling on a busy roads isn’t very safe. Drivers don’t care about people on bikes. Finally, if you leave your bike near a shop it might be stolen.

All things considered, although there are some disadvantages to use your bike, I’m sure it’s very healthy. We can stay fit, and as a result live longer.

17. Should animals be kept in zoos? Discuss
In my opinion wild animals should not be kept in zoos. There are many arguments forward for not keeping animals in captivity. It’s not good for them.

As far as I can see there are many reasons against keeping wild animals in zoos. The first argument is that people can’t give, for example, giraffe everything that she have in freedom. The second is that the animals (and people too) are very unhappy when they are in captivity.

I, personally, am against keeping animals in zoos. When tiger, who needs run a lot, is in zoo and he doesn’t have as big area as in freedom. They need to hunt and while they are in zoos everything for eat they have, they don’t have to do anything for get food. I think that keeping animals in captivity can be reason of not have as many children as in wild area. Wild animals need very big ground to run, hunt their food,

18. Pets are only trouble. True or false?
Nowadays lots of people have got a pet. What decides about buying a pet or not? In my opinion the thing is that the society feels lonely. Chasing money takes a lot of time. That is why we fewer arrange meetings, get to know new people, fall in love, etc. Happily we have our pet, who is always at home, waiting for us, whom we can stroke or play with whenever we want.

Unfortunately, a pet usually means also disadvantages. Take as an example a dog. Actually it is one of our best friends, but he needs care. Everyday he needs to be fed and taken out. Moreover having a dog enlarges our expenses. But for those three things we have something else, something much better – friendship that is between a human and a animal. That gives lots of benefits, like having a friend who will never disappoint you, who will always take care about you and your home.

On the other hand, there are some people who buy extreme animals, as an example – a spider. In that case we cannot talk about loneliness of the owner, but rather about his interests. Surely one cannot stroke it or snuggle up to it. What are the advantages of that animal? In my opinion only the sight and courage. The biggest disadvantage of having that kind of animal is that when it accidentally escapes, it may beat someone and sometimes even kill.

Summarizing, having a pet gives more benefits than inconveniences. We feel better, safer and what is the most important we are not as lonely as we used to be.

19. The best way of learning a foreign language.
I know from my own example, that I wouldn’t learn any language, if I did not love it or at least like it.

It is like a relationship with another person. You can not be with him or her if you dislike them. Learning languages can be much easier if you understand that you need them very much. Most of the employers require from their workers to know at least two foreign languages. So if you want to obtain a good job you must know that it is necessary to speak other languages. When you understand why is it so important, you will be able to acquire knowledge faster and more successful. After some time you will notice that learning has become a pure pleasure.

I know that process of learning may be difficult, but it is sometimes necessary to strain a little. As far as I know, reading is a natural process of learning, when you read a lot your level of knowledge increases. If you like to read, I think, there is no problem with forcing yourself to study.
Speaking fluently is not an ability you can buy in a store or inherit from your relatives. It is a skill you acquire during all your life. You should never stop learning language you love. Like I said before, it is like loving other person. If you are keen on him or her for real you can’t stop feeling this emotion.

20. Your favourite holiday.
Last holiday I’ve spent in Italy. It was the best summer time in all my life. I went to this beautiful country by car with all my family. I was living in a great hotel at the coastal. The weather was just glamorous: the sun was shining all the time, the sea was clean and the sand gold. There was a lot of people on the beach every day but it wasn’t a big surprise because there was really hot. Most of our time we have spent on the beach but of course not all the time. We were trying to visit as much interesting places as we only could. So we went to Neapol: old and very beautiful town. We had only two big problems during visiting Italian towns: very hot weather and a lot of traffic jams. The weather wasn’t a problem as long as we had been visiting old churches and old castles because there was rather cold. We were in Rome too and in my opinion this is the most beautiful town on the world. Just glamorous!

During our trip we were eating an Italian food. For example pizza or spaghetti. The best pizza I have ever ate was in small restaurant in Neapol which was placed next to the beach. It was pizza with a special cheese which is called: mozzarella. I like an Italian language very much. Maybe I should start to lern it?

21. What is more important. Career of family life.
Everybody knows that family is one of the most important things in the world. Our family help us to solve many problems, it gives us love and safety. But sometimes we have to choose between a family life and career, which gives us money, satisfaction and an important position in the society. We don’t know what to do: make career or sacrifice for our family.
When people are very young and have good qualifications, ambitions, they often want to be successful in their jobs, they want to earn much money and get promoted more frequently. A lot of them don’t have enough time to meet someone special and to meet his/her family. They often don’t remember about mothers and fathers, who wait for a letter or phone call from them. It may be the cause of quarrels in family and losing their private life.

Another problem is when a man in middle age has to decide if he wants to be promoted and suffer from lack of time connected with meeting family more rarely but also with earning much money, or if he wants to resign from the career and devote themselves to their families. And there are some different situations: if he has wife and children I think that he won’t choose career, because it may be cause of many problems and destroy his family. But if he is single he has a chance to change his life: many people think that money gives us happiness and career gives us self-complacency and helps us to relieve stress. For many people work is real challenge. Women also have to choose between career and family life: in our society there is the stereotype of women who bring up children and work at home, so often women, who have children, stay at home and resign from work for some years.

We have to answer the question: what is the role of a family in our life? Most of us claim that family is very important in our life. It gives us a sense of safety, helps in difficult situations in our life, makes us not feel lonely. We can always rely on our family. Happy family and working for its support is the main aim-cell in everyone’s life.

Summing up, I wouldn’t like to be made to choose between career and family but if I had to choose I would try to combine these things if possible. I think we should remember that not only money gives happiness. Family gives me love and friendship - it’s most important in my life and I wouldn’t like to lose it.

to be made to choose - być zmuszonym do wybierania
self-complacency - zadowolenie z samego siebie
effect - powodować
rely – polegać
aim-cel - nadrzędny cel
position - pozycja
the role of sth - funkcja, rola czegoś

22. Discuss the relationship between grandparents and grandchildren.

We quarrel with our parents, who had, much earlier of course, quarrelled with theirs. we disagree with our parents who disagreed with their parents. This means we should get on really well with our grandparents! And in fact lots of us do.

Grandparents are elderly people. They are usually very experienced and wise and often much calmer than our mothers and fathers. Most of our grannies and granddaddies are already retired and they can always find time to help us in whatever subject we need, always willing to talk with us and to share their interesting observations. Parents, who often are very busy making their careers aren’t always so keen on devoting much of their precious free time to us. That’s also why a relationship grandchild – grandparent is so exceptional, why “every generation revolts against their parents and makes friends with its grandparents”. Because no doubt this quotation is true.

I think that caring for our relationship with our grandparents is at least as important as caring for good relations with our parents. And if we do manage to build a strong bond between ourselves and our grandparents it can be really useful. We’ll always have someone to turn to during our hard times in contacts with mum and dad.

23. “Travel broadens the mind.” Do you agree?
At the beginning, I would like to say that travelling is becoming more and more popular nowdays. People travel during holidays more frequently then before, but also because of their jobs: many businessman, politicians, journalists have to go from one country to another.

In my opinion, travelling influences our knowledge about the world. Every journey makes us smarter and more experienced. Moreover, we learn how to behave in many different situations. We have chance to discover new cultures, and after that, we can compare it with our customs and draw intelligent conclusions. When we go to some exotic places, we may admire the beauty which we have never seen before. Travelling helps us to improve foreign languages. What's more every journey or trip gives us the possibility to see different, original architecture, cuisine and even beauty of nature. When you travel abroad you are able to find out how other people realise their plans and ambitions.

Unfortunately, there are also disadvantages of travelling. For instance, sometimes you have to face some unpleasant, difficult situations, but I hope that it makes us stronger and eager to make ourselves better.

Considering all the above, when we will be abroad, or even in other parts of our country, we should admire how beautiful and wonderful the world is, and we ought to save in our memory as much as we can, because travelling really broadens our minds.

24. The book or film tat impressed you most.
Sexmission is a cult Polish commedy about adventures of two men who after a few accidents wake up in a world without men (they are the last two specimens from the species of men). Directed by Juliusz Machulski, the cast includes Jerzy Stuhr as Max – a man who took part in Dr. Kuppelweiser’s invention for popularity and money, Olgierd Łukaszewicz as Albert – a biologist, who wanted to contribute to science. In the movie you will see also (as the second-plan characters) Bożenę Stryjkównę as Lamia, Bogusławę Pawelec as Emma and Wiesława Michnikowskiego as the Excellency.

The story begins in 1991 on August 9. The bodies of main characters are going to be frozen for 3 years, and, if the experiment goes well, to become the first people who survive hibernation. Unexpectedly they wake up 54 years after they’ve been put to hibernation. What is more, they wake up in a world without man, which is situated underground, and this is only the beginning of their problems. They are going to became woman.

The film is filled with a lot of humour, that would make everyone laugh. You won’t find any special effects here maybe because of very poor budged, but believe it or not it only makes this film more funny. The cast of this movie is tampered perfectly. The whole film is made in a real Polish style, which you won’t find in American films.

I throughly recommend this film. If you like good commedies it will definitely make you laugh. Don’t miss it! It’s worth seeing!

26. Public figures have no private life. Discuss.
Being a famous person-it must be a great experience. This feeling inside when you know that most of people like you, that your fans want to touch you, kiss, hug-you are God for them-WOW. Firstly the celebrities have a lot of money, which they earn in a simple way. They can do whatever they want. Also you don’t have to worry about your money, your future, your outward appearance, coz you’ve got the best clothes, cosmetics, hairdressers. Being a famous has also disadvantages. Although you are living in stress, coz anytime somebody wand’s to see you die, you can have also enemies. More over you can’t go alone for example to the shop, always with bodyguards. You don’t have privacy, paparazzi are looking at you for all the time, so you can’t go on the street without make-up, coz in the next day your picture will be in the magazine with headline-“SHE IS UGLY”-what a shame! It’s my wish to be famous some day, coz in this “job’ I see more advantages then disadvantages.

28. Life in the city and in the country. Compare.
Why do so many people move to big cities? There are very many reasons, which we ought to know. First of all in a big city there are more shops, restaurants, theatres and cinemas. People, who live in big cities hardly ever complain about boredom - they always can find a place to meet with friends, rest or see beautiful film, plays. In villages many people don’t have places like these and often have to stay at home in front of TV set. One of few types of entertainment are discos but they are only in big villages, which are situated near cities.

Another thing is that in big cities it is easier to find a good job and there are better educational opportunities than in villages. The young have better chances of good start in their life.

It is also very important for people that in a big city there is always electricity, TV and it’s easier to get a telephone installed - in a village the situation is harder because people often have to wait for a phone for many years. Communication is also better in a big city than in a village - there are a lot of buses, trains, tramways and plains. But it may be a negative feature of living in the city - there are many dangerous and hard situations like traffic jams, crashes. The environment is polluted because many cars are driven in a big city and there are many factories. In a big city residents also suffer from a lot of noise. The advantage of living in a big city is that there are many doctors, specialists - you can feel safer than in a village, where often there aren’t enough doctors and ambulances and you must wait for aid for a long time.

In a big city there are many sport clubs and facilities like swimming pools, tennis courts, pitches, but there are too few places for children and teenagers, where they could run or walk - only in big districts (housing estates) there are playgrounds and in the centre of a city there is usually a park. In a big city we may meet a lot of people, also foreigners, and we can get more interesting information (newspapers, books) than in a village. There are also more shops than in a village - you can buy most of things you want.

But there are many disadvantages of living in a big city. In a village you can find peace and quiet and you have a contact with nature and animals. In a big city you hear cars, buses, tramways, planes all the time. Air is polluted and unpleasant. I think that in a village people are more helpful than in a big city. In big cities living is more expensive and people may be more stressed than in villages.

Summing up, living in a big city is easier but if you need quiet and contact with nature - you should live in a village. As far as I am concerned I want to live in a big city , where I could find a good job, meet interesting people, have good assortment of goods, good communication and doctor’s protection.

sport facilities - obiekty sportowe
feature - cecha
educational opportunities - możliwości edukacji
it’s situated - jest położone
boredom - nuda
complain about ... - skarżyć się na ...
housing estates = districts - osiedla
playground - plac zabaw As far as I’m concerned ... - jeśli chodzi o mnie

29. Marriage in an old-fashioned idea and it will die out soon. Do you agree?
In everybody's life childhood is if a special importance. It is said that childhood should suffice for the whole life. It is obvious that a happy child needs love and harmony in its family. However, not only children draw profit from a regular and complete family, but also women and men, mothers and fathers.

Any regular family provides the feeling of security for all its members. People living in such families don't have to struggle alone with their problems, because they know there is someone who shares their joys and sorrows, and cares about them.

I believe that it is really wonderful to come back home after a hard working day and relax in the bosom of one's loving and protective family.

30. Discus some most common problems of young people.

Youth is a time when you can decide about your future life. You can choose way for your life and it can be good or bad. You can prepare your life to live with loving wife and family or you can become unhappy person or even a criminal. Many people say that it is very good because you can decide yourself what way you want to choose, but I think that young people sometimes do not know what to choose and what is evil – that's why they often take drugs and abuse alcohol.
Many people think that being a teenager is some very good thing – you do not have to carry about most things and you can do with your life whatever you want, but it is not as nice as they think. Young people have to learn a lot – if they want to have a good job in their's future. They stay about 8 hours at the school and they must also learn a lot at home.

When you are young generally you live with parents so you do not have to carry about many things – you leave it them. You often get pocket money and you can buy something for yourself .

31. Why should we learn foreign languages?
Let`s ask yourself a question: should people learn foreign languages? Although the answer to this question seems to be easy, wanting to give a reasonable answer we should think really hard to do so. There is an unlimited number of answers but let`s concentrate on the most important ones:

First of all, people should learn a language to make friends with people from other countries and a good command of, let`s say, English will enable them to do so. What`s more, English is the language of the future and the main international language, which is widely spoken. So, if we want to make friends or if we want to be a true European - English will help us. Besides, nowadays almost everybody has satellite TV and wanting to understand foreign, original films or programmes, we should know at least foreign language.

Secondly, the knowledge of foreign languages is greatly connected with a desire to travel, because if we are able to use any foreign language, we can visit a chosen place alone without an interpreter and do what we want, avoiding being lost. Even Francis Bacon believed that ``Travel, in the younger sort /of people/, is a part of education; in the elder /sort, it`s/, a part of experience``. So, for instance, knowing a foreign language we can study abroad, visit any part of the world and what`s the most important, we will be independent.
What`s more, fluency of, for example, English will help us in finding and developing a career, after completing full-time education. Knowing a foreign language, we can find a good job, become a businessman or even work with computers, as many computer programmes and instruction manuals are written in English.

Besides, highly skilled young people who are fluent in English will be in great demand in the future, as Poland increases its trade with Western countries /which it must do to gain economic prosperity/.
There`s no doubt that, there are a lot of foreign goods in Polish shops and if we don`t know at least English or German we won`t be able to read what we buy and how to use something we`ve just bought.
Additionally, everyone who runs his private business and want to be in touch with highly developed foreign firms, should know a foreign language.

Therefore, knowledge of a foreign language is very important, indispensable and useful. We should only remember that everything is up to us. If we want to be close to the whole world, gain high position, eg. in our job, we should know a foreign language, which is undoubtedly, a job-finding and career-building factor.

32. Generation gap between parents and children.

It’s incredible how much parents mean to young children. Parents are teachers, guides, their first playmates and who knows what else. Little children not only observe the world with their own senses and reason. They also pay attention to everything their parents tell them and perceive it beyond any critic - for a little kid a parent is an absolutely unquestioned authority. This changes slightly, or in some cases a lot more than slightly, when kids start growing up. They discover different authorities, they meet respectfull people who represent totally different views to their parents’ ones. And when a young man or a youg lady discovers that their parents are neither infallible nor infinitely genius as they may have thought before, the relation between them and their parent may change.

Teenagers need to varify the opinions that their parents represent, they no longer believe in everything they are told by them. They don’t have to agree with their parents’ point of view. This may cause many unpleasent arguments and lead to a house revollt. In some situations teenagers and their parents fall out so often that it becomes impossible for them to reach any arrangements and they are unable to agree on anything. And what is interesting, the phenomen of children misunderstanding parents (and vice -wersa) happens in every single generation.

34. Why do people need friendship?
To start with, friendship is the greatest value in our life. People need friends because each of us want to have someone trusted, loyal, devoted, disinterested, sincere and faithful. Someone we can count on and who will always help us with problems.

What is more, we need someone who will hera us und understand. Someone who is similar to us. People want to see themselves in their friends. Someone with similar problems and intersects.

We feel lonely, unnecessary and worthless without friends. I consider that we need friends because we believe that fiend is someone who will stay with us when other people will leave.

Furthermore, the best way of starting a friendship are common interests. We can find our future friends where we stay; for example in the cinema or in the coffee-shops. When we want someone to become our friend we should show him/her our sympathy. What is more, we can also support him/her and prove that he/she can count on us in every situation. After that we can start to build a real friendship...

And then friendship must be cherished to become stronger and stronger, it must be "planted like a seed".

Moreover we should never let our friends down when they count on us or otherwise we may destroy our close relationship with them.

Taking everything into account, I would like to say that a friend in need is a friend indeed" - according to this old saying a good friend should always help us with difficulties and raise our spirits when we are down. That is what friends are for....

37. Unlucky day.

I remember accurately the day when everything was wrong. it was on Saturday a year ago. All night this day I slept well but the day made a lot of bad accidents so I had a terrible day. First of all I overslept and I was late for school. Then I had a surprised test in math and after that I got a negative grade in history. After school when I was going home it started to rain and I got wet. I was wet and cold and I thought what I did wrong that everything is against me and all things is going badly. At home I couldn’t eat dinner because I felt not well and went to bed. I had to have a peace and quiet and I wanted to be alone. I thought some tune about this day, what happened and what I did when I thought about it. I don’t know when I was asleep. Two hours later I got up and started to do my homework. After that I wonted like to make on appointment to see my friend but, couldn’t find him nowhere. I began to think myself if everything started to going wrong again. I would like to say him how many adventures than day. I had bad finally I met my friend and told him what happened. He was very surprised and couldn’t believe that all of it could happen one day.

38. How do you imagine youre future job?
I haven’t been working yet, so I can only imagine which factors will be the most important for me. First of all, I will seek a big company, that creates stimulating and demanding, but also friendly work environment which encourages its professional staff to do as much and as well as possible.

The company should not have very complicated company structure, that everyone knows what he is responsible for and to whom he reports. I would also enjoy a high degree of freedom in deciding how to complete my tasks and duties. Such freedom requires a high degree of competence, initiative and responsibility. That would allow me to improve my skills and leadership qualities.
What is strictly connected with these factors is the salary. I belong to the group of people that have to be motivated by some financial targets. I’d love to do my best for long hours, but I will expect a good pay for that. But money isn’t the most important for me. I’ll also appreciate if the company cares for my children (if I had them), by providing a crèche or a kindergarten and if I have many opportunities to develop. For example by taking part in training programs paid by the company.

In conclusion, the factors mentioned above seem to me to be the most important today. The excellent job should be challenging, require responsibility and provide good working conditions.
39. Money – how important is it?
Money is the power ,power is the money ..... We all know that people from our century are trying to get more and more money ..... Money became people’s aim in life ......

We live in a materialistic society. People want to possess as much as possible and only have the best .If we buy a TV-set ,the neighbour immediately buys a better one .If we buy a car ,the neighbour decides to buy a more expensive one or even two cars : one for himself and another one for someone from the family . If we buy a cottage over the lake ,our friends look for the same . This is commonly known in England as „ Keeping up with the Jones’s” .And so the frantic race goes on . We want to choose better things than our friends ,send our children to better schools and give them everything better . Our children must have the same as our neighbours in order to obtain the best education and better jobs. Sometimes it is difficult to differentiate between the Jones’s syndrome and snobbishness!

It is only in affluent societies that people are obsessed with the chase for money .The money is spent on consumer goods ,namely clothes, cosmetics , cars ,tools, computers, food, houses etc. People do not have time to enjoy these things when they are already thinking of their replacement with a later model . They completely lose their sense of values. They think that if they possess more their dignity is raised . Only in old age or when dying do they see how precarious a balance based only on possessions is . They regret they have to leave all these valuable things , and it is hard for them to die .

In poor societies people enjoy life . They smile sincerely at every stranger, invite him home , share their joys and sorrows in simple conversations. Their open houses are provided with the ordinary necessary things which they do not have to guard night and day . They know that the richer you are ,the more greedy you are .
But the great problem of the contemporary world is how to share all those things . There are people in America who think of buying a private helicopter, and there are people in Nigeria who starve to death . The truth is the rich will never understand poor .

In my opinion money is necessary. We need to have some money for food , clothes and other things ,but when we have to much money we do not know what to do with it . Most people spend their lifes on making money .
They want to possess money no to spend them . Only to have a lot of money . But what the money really are ?
Their are only a piece of paper if we do not need them to survive .
The worst is that the one person can kill another for money .

But lets look into the past. Many years ago people did not have money . They could live without it . Their were exchanging good which they had to many for others which they did not have . It had its advantages and disadvantages .

Personally I think that I gave some evidence that money are people’s aim in life.

40. The most unusual person you know.
It’s hard to be a judge of ourself and decide unmistakably if we are interesting or not cause for everyone „interesting” means something else. So I can’t say neither “I’m really fascinating person” nor “Oh my God I’m so boring, I’m goanna kill myself!”

I think I’m just as most of people at my age. Sometimes stubborn, especially if it goes on arguing with my parents and my brother, I’m a little bit lazy, but also optimistic, friendly, talkative, I’m not afraid of a challenge. I’m also rather self-confident person with quite out going personality. Sometimes it’s hard to get on with me but generally I’m open minded.
I have a lot of interests, I’m keen on skiing, snowboarding, volleyball and lately – windsurfing. I’ve tried this sport for the first time this summer and I found it really exciting. What’s more I enjoy going to the cinema, to the theatre surfing on the Internet. I like going out with friends and meet new people. I’m also fond of music, almost all day playlist on my computer is on and very often it drives my parents crazy, but they probably never understand what does it mean to me a music addict.
For sure in one way I’m different from most of U. I’m a vegetarian cause I’m against depriving an animal of sunlight juz to have a piece of meat. My experience with vegetarianism started over 2years ago when I saw a TV programme about animal transporting. Horses, cows and chicken were kept in huge lorry for about 70hours without any food and even any water despite extremely high temperature! They were dying of weakness and the worst thing was that it was indifferent to everybody responsible for the transport. The fear and sadness were visible in these poor animals eyes. And I decided not to cause such suffering anymore. All in al vegetarianism is great way of being cause it bases on life respect ad it’s good to now how important life is!

I’ve got some rules, my private rules which are most important for me and which I’m always trying to obey. One of them is not to be self-dying, we shouldn’t give up our personality just to become popular or cool!

The truth is that were all special in some way and we shouldn’t try to get into others favour but to look for those who will find us interesting and who will like as just as we are:)

43. Fame is undesirable. True or false?

I think that everybody like to be in the public eye. It’s nice when you can be an authority for somebody. Mostly celebrities are famous coz they are doing what they like the most, so you are doing your job with pleasure-awesome!

44. Cigarettes and alcohol should be banned.
Drinking alcohol is something like ritual. People drink this for a good fun – it is safe drinking. Dangerous Is when somebody drink alcohol because must – they became an alcoholic. I think that it isn’t good or bad, it’s between. Some people drink to have different view on world or life, it is twisted picture but sometimes very colourful. In Poland we have many occasions to drink, when we haven’t occasion it’s mean that we have. Alcohol is not a drug. It is medicine for bad world, it’s escape from boring existence – in restraint. I think that drinking alcohol is the way to change awareness, but in other side it is distractive for brain.
The first point I want to make is that smoking destroy human’s health. People who smoke are much endangered to have a cancer , the inflammation of larynx and heart’s disease. Cigarettes damage also lungs of the smoker, and make his teeth yellow. Moreover it has a bad influence on skin and hair. Although we know that smokers destroy their health it is impossible to forbid them to smoke. In fact, it is their own problem.
On the other hand , many people like smoking, during drinking beer or talking in pubs or restaurant. Most of them have to smoke because of their addiction .If smoking was forbidden, it would be restriction of smokers’ freedom. In addition people would give up visiting places where smoking is banned. Thus the owners of these locals would be in financial trouble

45. The internet is dangerous. Discuss
The first Internet connection was made in 70s between two American universities. About twenty years later, in early 90s, the Internet spread quickly all over the world. Nowadays, almost everybody use this global mean of communication. Internet has both some advantages and disadvantages. Below there are some pluses and minuses of its usage.

At the beginning I have to mention that Internet is a very handy tool. If you need any information on any subject you only have to turn on the web browser, type on the keyboard what you are looking for and press "ENTER". You'll see a long list of things connected with your word.

A lot of people visit chat rooms or use communicators such as ICQ (I Seek You) or Gadu-Gadu to make a new friends. If you have an access to the Internet there's a possibility of sending e-mails.

The XXI century brought many facilities useful in everyday life. The latest technologies able us to buy food, books, CDs, games and even cars.

As I said Internet has positive and negative sides. One of the most dangerous things is pornography. There are many websites that offer access to free shocking porn. Another important problems homosexuality and sexual molesting of children.

Don't forget about hackers - a group of people who know computer technology very well. They're good programmers (personally I think they're the best), they can solve almost every computer problem. A real hacker forces computer networks, breaks their security just to show and improve his knowledge. But there are many people who call their selves "hackers". In fact they break in to computers to get important information or to damage operation system.

Summarising these reflections - life wouldn't be as easy as it is now without the Internet. It became very important. It gives job for many people who work in big computer corporations and makes easier searching information. I'm a great believer in the Internet.
