Many people are moving to the country nowadays. Still, some prefer the city and claim that they wouldn’t be able to live in the country. So which is the best place to live? Let’s examine this further.

Let’s start from the city point of view. Living in a city particularly a large one, such as Warsaw, has its advantages. It can offer the best of entertainment, theatre, concerts, and there is always something to do, see, or visit. The shopping or great! You can buy almost anything you need in one place without really searching. Working in a city is great, too. The beat and largest companies are located there and you can find a very good job that pays well. In addition, the transit system is quite extensive so it will not be too difficult to commute to work and back home.
Now the disadvantages, oh, there are a few! A city is full of people, so, so, so much people, and people equal crowd! Crowd on the sidewalk, crowd on the buses and streetcars and of course traffic on the roads. It can drive you crazy! Sometimes it seems like forever to get from point A to point B, especially in the downtown core (city centre). It can, and often does, take hours!
Another disadvantage of the city is the safety aspect. Due to the fact that there are so many people from all walks of life, there is more crime in the streets. You really have to be more careful when you’re out at night, and of course some areas are best to be avoided altogether.
On the other hand, the country life doesn’t really have this problem, to such a degree, at least. The volume of people is much smaller and most know one other by name there, for the incidence of crime is relatively small, compared to the city. The pace of life is much slower too; less stressful. Less pressure and what is most important, less traffic. Many places you can get to on foot or if it’s further away, by car or horse and buggy.

The city has a lot to offer, view wise; tall buildings, skyscrapers, historic monuments, beautiful parts and scenery, but the country has something that a large city doesn’t seem to have, space and lots of trees; small quaint houses with old fashioned charm and people doing every day things.
The people even seem different to me, more relaxed, more family oriented, more like people. In the city, people resemble ants, running in every direction, briefcase in hand, always in a hurry, always doing something, always running out of time. Country folks simply seem to enjoy life and take pleasure in everyday things more than the city folks do.
A disadvantage of the country has to be the commuting. People live in the country but often work in the city and sometimes it takes a long time to get where they need to be. Although the prices are less pensive than in the city, the selection of items may not be as varied. But in the end, that is a small price to pay.

Well, what can I say? The city is great as is the country. They both have wonderful things to offer and negative aspects as well. If I had to choose, I would choose the city but only because that’s what I’m used to. In a perfect world I could live in both but that’s not really a reality. Although, who knows, maybe when I retire?
